buying guide

MY MONTHLY UPDATED LOOK INTO THE MARKET FOR LAPTOP AND DESKTOP COMPUTERS, AND PRINTERS

Please note I have only concentrated upon performance with relation to price here. There are all manner of subtle nuances in specification and design that might justify higher prices in the market. Screen quality does vary markedly, so does built in speaker quality which may be of importance. Thinner lighter lapops command a premium. I am aiming here for a good solid guide, but anything you may think of in the way of specific requirements are definitely best discussed.

Remember if you do need to replace your computer I can set-up your new one in such a way that you will still have all your files, photos, software, contacts and e-mails - even appearance. Getting everything across correctly in the first place is important - allowing continuity and minimal disruption.

HP 250 G7. 15.6" display, 8th generation Intel i5 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD

£399 from ebuyer:

Given its price an excellent specification and a responsive laptop. A rigid but slightly plastic feeling case and not the best viewing angle from the side, but fine if you alone are working on it. Good all round machine and sensible for e-mail, web use, writing, spreadsheet and Powerpoint work.
